Life Changes so Quickly...
It seems as though time flies when you are having fun.
Ben is 2 1/2 years old. He is a toddler so full of energy and life. There is not a moment that is dull when he is around. He's in a hurry everywhere he goes and is normally talking or yelling the whole way. He loves to talk on the phone, especially to his Papa & Grandpa. He has a personality all his own. He is very creative and imaginative. He loves anything and everything CARS the movie. Most of the time, you wont see him without a hat on. He has a variety to pick from and seems to almost always be wearing one. I think his favorite is his Indiana Jones hat. It looks like one that Papa has and he tries to wear it everywhere.
And on to baby #2. We are expecting our second baby on March 9, 2013. We are having another little boy. Jose couldn't believe it when they said it was definitely a boy. He just knew he couldn't be that "lucky." This pregnancy has been completely different than the last one. I have been sick a lot with this little boy. I don't ever sleep and my body hurts most of the time. However, these are the prices that we pay to have kiddos. When you look at them when they are born and are able to finally hold them, you know that it is all worth it. We are naming him Jacob Francisco Medellin. Can't wait for him to get here so that we can meet him!!! Only 12 weeks to go.
We hope that you all have a Merry Christmas and a very safe holiday!!!!! Appreciate your family and friends. Remember to tell them all how much you love them. Say prayers of hope and blessings for those you care for.

Benjamin is 1 yr old!!
Where does time go? It seems to fly by. We get home from work, play with little man for a bit and then he is in bed and we start all over the next day. He is growing up so incredibly fast. Alot has been going on since our last post.
The last week of April we took Benjamin to the doctor for what we thought was an ear infection. He was falling alot more than normal, his balance was off pretty bad. When we got to the office, she said that he didn't have an ear infection and instead sent us immediately over to the hospital to have a CT scan done of his head. She said his head had jumped from the 70th to 90th percentile for his overall size and age. Because of the increase in his head size and a neurological change (the falling) we needed to look for tumors, fluid, etc. The results came back clear and everything checked out okay. However, that was the longest afternoon of our lives I think. We were completely mortified that something was seriously wrong with our ANGEL. We treated for ear infection even though there wasn't signs of any and he improved greatly.
Benjamin turned one on the 5th. He had two small family parties. He didn't really understand opening gifts or eating cake. He really liked the icing but wasn't really into having the actual cake. He loved being with his family. Playing is the most fun right now. We got him a swing, slide, and a set of little plastic golf clubs. He LOVES being outside those these were perfect. He carries his golf clubs with him most of the time where ever he goes.
He still has only 3 teeth. He has been working on 1 coming through for over a month and then we discovered yesterday that he is also beginning to cut his front 2 top teeth. He is learning to eat finger foods even though he still prefers baby food. He will eat snacks all day but when it comes to breakfast, lunch, and dinner, he wants food from the jars.
We are so blessed to have such a beautiful, healthy, happy boy. I will upload pictures in the next day or two.

11 Months Old
Benjamin is 11 months old and full of life. His personality grows everyday. He learns so much all the time and is always investigating things and trying to figure out how things work. He is growing so quickly. His hair has the slightest curl starting at the ends when his hair is wet. It is getting to be that time for his first real hair cut. I have trimmed around his ears and his neck a couple of times, but it didn't look good at all. Im not a skilled barber who knows how to cut hair on a wiggle worm :)
BIG BIG NEWS!!!! Benjamin started walking on April Fools Day. Since he took those few couple of steps on his own, he has been UNSTOPPABLE. He has discovered this great way to get around and he's on the go CONSTANTLY!!! He does best when he has something in his hands to help keep him balanced. HE loves to wave his hand at you (his way of telling you to come here) and then grab One of your fingers and walk you all over the house. He turns you around in circles and backtracks his path as if to say, "Mommy, I didnt show you what I found over here yet!"
He has figured out some new things. He loves to flip the lamp off in the office. It is one of Gmom and Benjamin's favorite daily games. She flips the lamp on and he immediately flips it off and laughs or claps his hands. He has also discovered how to turn on the humidifier and to stick his plastic baby spoons down into the blades so that it makes an exciting noise. He turns around and looks at you like "Oh my gosh, I didn't do it." He is working so hard to get the hot tub to turn on now too. Uncle Bo showed him what sound it makes when you push the buttons and his eyes lit up with excitement. He crawls up in the towel basket and tries to push all the buttons. He can't push hard enough yet to make it work though.
He has 3 teeth with another one pushing through, it should be in any day. His first two teeth were his front bottoms. Now his 3rd and his 4th are the top "Fangs". Not the front 2 but the ones right next to the middle ones. We are hoping that they all come in pretty quickly because he has such a hard time with teething.
His absolute favorite toy right now is his State Farm red and white Beach Ball. He yells at it, hits it, rolls it, and throws it in the air. He laughs and squeals the entire time he plays with it and he plays with it off and on throughout the day everyday. Its funny, the free toy is the favorite toy!!!!!! He also loves to "read." He likes to take the newspaper, magazines, books, mail, anything paper and shake it or crumple it up. He is so much fun..
Even though he is a mess a lot of time, we wouldn't trade him or any of the experiences for anything in the world. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful baby who is a joy to his entire family. I will get some new pics uploaded soon.

Growing Up so Fast!!
Benjamin is getting to be such a big boy. He will be 10 months old on Saturday. I can't believe that he will be 1 in 2 months. Its crazy!!!!! He is not the quiet little baby we brought home from the hospital. He has a BIG personality. He is really figuring out his likes and dislikes.
He has 3 favorite shows that he loves to watch. His number one favorite is a disney channel cartoon "Handy Manny." Most of his grandparents and Uncle Bo have seen quite a few episodes (over and over again). He stops everything he is doing to watch if he sees it come on or hears the theme song. It is pretty funny. His other favorite show is Mickey Mouse Club House. He loves when the characters SING. And the most odd of the 3 shows he watches is JEOPARDY. Yep, that's right, he sits mesmorized when Jeopardy comes on at 4:30p. He watches it with Gmom almost every single day if we are home and he is not napping. Hopefully that means he is soaking up all the knowledge and will be one smart boy.
He is into everything these days. He has discovered how to open drawers, pull everything out, and go on the the next thing. He crawls so quickly and runs in his walker. He is a little speedster and he loves to run you over in it. He has even gotten good enough getting it to go that he can walk across the carpet (with some extra effort).
And YES, Benjamin finally has 2 yes two TEETH. Those little bugs bunny teeth (as his daddy refers to them) came through about 1.5 weeks ago. We are all so relieved.
I will post some new pics soon.

9 months old
Benjamin turned 9 months old yesterday. It seems like yesterday that we were going to the hospital to have him. I cant believe I am dressing him in 9-12 month clothes now.
So much has happened since our last post. Benjamin started crawling very well at 8 months. Now, he is crawling fast and pulling him self up to everything and using furniture to help him walk around. Last night he figured out how to make his walker go forward. For the past few months, he has only been able to operate his walker in REVERSE. So going forward is a huge accomplishment for him. Benjamin has been teething for a while now without any teeth coming through yet. We are hoping that they will soon so that he can sleep on a schedule again and be more content. He has been trying more table food. He especially loves ice cream sandwiches. He eats oranges, scrambled eggs, refried beans, and he loves to chew on pickles (sweet ones and dill ones). He is growing up so fast. He says dadadadada alot of the time and he says "Mom" very clearly when he is upset. He has started out sticking out his tongue. I think it is pretty funny. We went to the doctor for his 9 mo check up and he was perfect. He weighs 19 lbs right now and they said his head has maintained nicely so we won't have to have any scans done after all. They were previously worried about his head being to big for his size??? based on their growth curve program. We have a perfectly healthy, beautiful baby boy who is growing like a weed.
Jose got a new job and starts on Monday. He is excited to be starting something new. He will be working at Roberts Truck Center as their rental manager. It will be so much closer to home so he will get to come home and play w baby at lunch :)
We should get to spend more time with him now.

Our Amazing Friends, Please Say a Prayer for Them.
I have spent a lot of time the last few days thinking about what I have been wanting to post. We have an amazing friend who has been fighting a brain tumor for a couple of years. He has been so strong and has such strong unfaltering faith in Jesus. When we have talked with him about his condition in the past, he would tell us that God would not give him anything that he could not handle. I also remember Shea telling us a long time ago that Brian said that he was not afraid. He was ready to go to be with God whenever he was ready for him. This past Friday, Brian was moved to BSA Hospice. He suffered some major setbacks and his wife and family made the decision that it was time to let him rest comfortably in a peaceful environment where they could manage his pain. Jose has been to sit with him almost every single day. Sometimes it would be for an hour and sometimes for 5 or 6 hours. We have spent a lot of time with Brian and Shea’s families the past few weeks and I cannot tell you how amazing they all are. I sit and watch them with him and each other. There is so much compassion for Brian and this family. Friends and family have come from all over to show their support and love.
This experience in our lives is one that really makes you think about how important your priorities are. Going and sitting with a family in a time of suffering can mean so much. It can make an impact that you may not consciously think about. There is never anything that you can really say to someone experiencing what Brian, Shea, and their families are going through, but just being there can mean the world!!!
I am in awe of the strength that Shea has had to be so positive and caring with Brian. She sits with him always and scratches his nose or head for him, she offers him ice, ice cream, tea with raw sugar, anything she can to make him more comfortable. She is the most unselfish individual that I have had the pleasure to know in a long time. Her actions speak such loud volumes that no words are even necessary to know how much she loves this man.
Shea and Brian, I want you to know how much we absolutely undoubtedly love you both. We think about you always and say prayers for you everyday. Brian, we are so so happy that you chose Shea to be your true love!!!! She is the most amazing girl and she loves you so much. She is an amazing individual and her faith in Jesus is unfaltering. Your forever together is not coming to an end, it is just beginning, and know that you will get to dance together in heaven again, when God says it is time.
To all of my friends and family, please pray for this couple and their family. They are going through such a hard time and need all of the prayer, love and support that they can receive. Also, take a little time each day and really spend some quality time with your family. Tell those that you love that you do indeed love them. Hug them. Kiss them. Appreciate them for who they are and that they are with you!!! God gives us all challenges and they may not always make since at first but there is a divine purpose behind all that HE does.

October 2010
So much as been happening over the past few months. Benjamin will be 6 months old on Friday. He is such a big boy now. At his 5 month doctor appointment he weighed in a 16 lbs and a few ounces. About a month ago, he ended up with croup and brochiolitis so we did breathing treatments for over a week. He was barking like a dog all week. We felt so bad for him. He is doing 100% better now and he has decided that he does not like to do breathing treatments at all. He would scream and scream if he was awake when we would give them to him. We did figure out that if we put him in his swing and did them while he was asleep we were all much happier. He has been accomplishing lots of new things over the past month or so. He found his toes the other day and he thinks they are SO COOL!!! He rolls over when he thinks its a good idea, but the rest of the time he just screams when he wants to turn over and looks at you to come and flip him over. You could say that our son is a little on the LAZY side. Hopefully he will outgrow that soon. Two nights ago, he slept in his big boy crib in his room all night. He did wake up 2xs to eat but went right back to sleep in his crib. Jose is not quite ready for Benjamin to sleep in his own room but Benjamin has to start sometime so there is no time like the present. So I will be transitioning him over slowly so both Daddy and baby have enough time to get used to the new arrangement. Benjamin is absolutely infatuated with the computer and cell phones. If anyone is on the computer that is where he wants to be. Right in the middle of everything, pushing buttons on the keyboard when he can sneak his little baby hands past us. He loves cell phones. He likes to talk to his grandparents and aunts and uncles on the phone. We always put it on speaker phone and and he just stares at the phone wondering how his papa or grandma is in that little box. His Gmom and Papa have been teaching him new things while I am at work. They have taught him to blow his lips and make a buh buh buh noise. When he does it, he spits all over you and he just laughs. He is the happiest baby. He has no idea what it means to be unloved. He has constant visitors. Either his grandparents, aunts, uncles, or cousins are always coming by to play. I have posted some pictures of the past month. Look at how much he is changing!!!! And of course, the pics of the oh so cute baby girl is our niece Olivia!!

11 Weeks Old
It has been quite a while since I have posted anything about our little man. We have been very busy. For those of you who have not heard, we moved back to Amarillo during the middle of June. Jose is still working for CAT and I am trying to find a teaching job. That means, currently, I am staying home with Benjamin!!!! It is very nice that he does not yet have to be in daycare.
Little man weighed in at 10 lbs 4oz at his appointment on July 5th. That is exactly 3 lbs bigger than his birth weight. It seems like he changes and gets a little bigger everyday. He is such a blessing. We love him so much and are enjoying him completely :) He is accomplishing more and more. He can hold his head up pretty well for long periods of time and he is wanting to stand up. His legs get tired quickly so he does squats alot of the time he is trying to stand. This week He is starting to pull himself up when he is laying down.
He had a playdate today with his cousin Olivia and they sure did have fun. They layed on a blanket together and he tried to suck on her fingers. She was a little closer to him than I realized and she put her hand in his face so he just reached up and grabbed it and directed it straight towards his mouth. Yummy :) He did not succeed but did try pretty hard.
He still gets up every three hours at night but most of the time goes back to sleep easily. He does tend to have one point in the night or early in the morning where he wants to get up and play..... Which means mommy doesn't get to sleep. So as a good mommy, we get up and play for an hour or two and then we take a long nap about mid morning to catch up on the sleep we missed. He still loves his tubbie time. He likes the water pretty hot!! If it is not hot enough, he cries and you have to let the water out and start over. He is his mommy's baby, definitely. There are pics posted, most recent to less recent. HE sure is a cutie!!!!!!

4 Weeks & 1 Day Old
Benjamin is a growing boy. 14 days ago he weighed in at 7lbs 6oz. Today at the doctor's office he weighed at 8lbs 10oz and was 21 3/4inches long. The doctor said he has made a ton of progress and is now very healthy!!! He was a little behind before and now his momma makes him eat a ton and he has more than surpassed their expectations. Yeah for Benjamin!!!!! He is just as beautiful and good as ever. He slept for 5 whole hours last night between feedings. However, he did wake up very unhappy and demanded to be fed immediately. Mommy kept trying to tell him it wasn't time to eat yet and then realized that we really had slept for 5 hours. Benjamin is getting a pretty good idea of how his hands work now.. The past couple of times I have bathed him, he reaches back and grabs a hand full of his hair and yes.. he PULLS it. Funny thing is - he screams like I am hurting him when in fact he is doing it to himself. I just have to laugh and tell him to stop.. What can you do, he really thinks its me. And how about the volume in that hair? It's crazy!

3 Weeks Old Today
Benjamin is getting so big so quickly. Can you believe that today he is 3 weeks old? It's crazy!!!! When we look at him, we keep thinking he is growing so fast. He is getting much longer and he really has grown right out of his newborn clothes and diapers. WOW!! We go back for another weight check in a week, so I am curious to see how much he has really grown.

New Pictures...
Well, I have definitely been busy and have not had time to update on our little man.
He passed his jaundice test and got to come off the light that Friday morning. We went home to Canyon so that his aunts, uncles and cousins could all meet baby Benjamin. He did really well in the car, never even cried. Benjamin is such a good baby (knock on wood), he rarely ever cries. He is very happy when he is awake. He just lays there and looks at us with his beautiful little eyes.
He is back up to his birth weight now, the Dr says he is a little behind and needs to be eating more so he gain weight more quickly. So, I am trying to feed him as much as he can possibly hold, however, he just doesn't care to eat as much as they want him to have. Guess that is better than him eating way too much? He is now 7lbs 4 oz again and is 20 3/4 inches long. It seems like his little newborn pajamas are already getting to short in the legs and he's not even 3 weeks old. Everyone says they grow up fast, I just hope it doesn't happen too quickly.
